<He looks around at the motley group of people surrounding us: from the laid-back jeans crowd to the posh, well-maintained, ladies in trendy Italian shoes. We are in San Francisco’s Bimbo’s 365 club – a place of jazz, acid jazz, rock, and the cultured urban vibe; The upscale lounge we are in, decked out in red carpets, looks over a dance floor packed with fans>

Well, their focus certainly isn’t on any idealist musical movement or lyrics with an agenda. They are here to listen to flowing, appealing music of Delerium. I doubt that someone will approach you and shout “Bill, you ROCK!!!” tonight <both laugh> Hm.. it would be interesting if you played, dunno… “Resist” in the middle of your concert <smile>…

<smile> Imagine the look on people’s faces! I don’t think that even 5% would know what is it and where did it come from.

Yes, you’re in a totally different game now… talking about FLA, Rhys Fulber is back on the team?

Yes, you know, it’s so much easier when you work with someone that is on the same wavelength, that you share views with. We started working on some Delerium tracks and they ended up sounding like FLA songs… There was a lot of little embers glowing here and there, someone just needed to add a log… and “Civilisation” was born.

I heard it sounds very dark and atmospheric…

Yes, I think it is our darkest and most complex album. We have almost completed it. As soon as this tour is over ( September, 27th, 2003), we’re flying back to Vancouver to put finishing touches and master it.

Perfect design for your final FLA album? “Epitaph” was presented as the last, and it even had an appropriate name. Is “Civilisation” really the last album under the name of Front Line Assembly?

Yes, I think it is. It definitely sounds like one.

Can I quote you on that? <smile>
You can if you want to <mischevious smile>

So, FLA book is closed. On to Delerium then… “Semantic Spaces” was an interesting ‘shift’ from caustic, desolate sound toward pop music. It has proven to be a turning point leading to success of then side-project. Why female vocals?
