Art - no, little, much, always?
Heil// always. Ian// I know Art;
he’s a good man, a real closer. Elias// Motherfucker
cost me my Cadillac.
<smile> Predominant colours in dubok image/logo/designs
are grey and blue. Why?
Heil// I believe it compliments the entirety of what
is Dubok. They are colors that can identify with every emotion.
Elias// Yeah, I think the album covers have really
just fit our music well. That’s really the only reason we’ve
used them. Alan @ eye-lyft (who did the art for Technicolor…
our upcoming single for Dense… and our upcoming full-length)
is just amazing. He really knows what he’s doing.
Ian// personally I love blue. It’s a great
color. But I don't think there is any coincidence. I think it's just
how it came to be.
Five words that define Dubok (including an explanation of
word dubok - CIA/KGB term for a dead agent, right?)
Ian// Dance U
Bastard Or Kill
Elias// Yeah, I’m gonna have to agree with
Ian here <smile>
Heil// Evolving into something quite different. NO!
This agent is very alive and very well. Dubok means dead
drop, the exchange of information.
Ian, you said in one interview that you 'cut and paste' your
lyrics. How can we find out the meaning of your songs? Should we?
Ian// Most often there is no meaning. The words are
generally there to enhance the music. I don't have a political or
social agenda. (At least not one I’m willing to wear on my sleeve)
Occasionally I may get something off of my chest in a line in a song,
but most times the music is there and I just enhance the song with
the lyrics. I really have nothing important to say without coming
off like a hypocrite.
How do you attain 'clear vision'?
Ian// You have to like yourself.
Elias// Get rid of as much bullshit drama from your
life as possible. No need for it!
Heil// Oh, keeping Ian3XLR out of jail for
being drunk 'n' disorderly.
From your viewpoint, what are the differences between "Immersed"
and "Technicolor"?
Ian// maturity and production quality. Heil//
Technicolor: controlled, a bit more dynamic. It leaves room for growth
and an uncertainty of what is to come.
Elias// Yeah, “Immersed” really was our
first try at recording a ‘professional’ release…
And you can tell if was our first CD! <wink/smile> We just matured
a lot musically and technically on “Technicolor”.
Will ever industrial/electro music flood
the clubs around the world?
Ian// Oh I think there will be times when something
accessible crosses over but it will be something that was influenced
by the underground sound and someone adds a touch of cheesiness
to it like NIN used to
do. I mean without Ministry there would be no Nine
Inch Nails or Marilyn Manson. It’s just a theory.
I could be wrong.
Heil// Not until technology consumes every human.
Next time you’re in a club and you hear song that has
a bit of techno, a touch of acid, smoothness of synth-pop and industrial’s
adrenaline – that’s Dubok. What will be your first thought?
Memorize it, and later consult Herr Freud. Test results can be submitted
