The Logic and the lust’

In one person. Desolate lyrics and energetic voice out of silver megaphone. Provoked by my review of “Bullet CDS”, he wanted to ‘clarify certain basic concepts’. Smile on my face, remembering our last meeting / interview. You cannot miss to enjoy conversation with Mr. Joakim Montelius of Covenant – and not to allow flood of his voices in your blood…

Let's fall asleep for a decade. Would Covenant still exist?

I think so. Maybe not as actively as today, but I'm sure we would still be making music.

What would be your next goal?

World peace. And a gig in Tokyo. Preferably the second to celebrate the first.

Yet, we are close to another war. Will we ever be able to build a tower of Babel? Would you join in building it?

I believe there will be a Tower of Babel sooner or later. Perhaps not in physical form, but one representation or another of the original idea. Without that kind of co-operation and belief in human capacity there will be no future. I doubt it will happen in my lifetime, but if it does I'll be there. I just hope not too many must die getting there.

Let us go back again to the glorious past. Who is your favourite historical figure?

I'm an atheist, so I don't think he's a historical person, but Jesus is my all-time favourite. I tend to be fascinated by moral revolutionaries. And explorers like Captain Cook, Vasco da Gama or Roald Amundsen. There is something truly extraordinary about people that recklessly defy all common sense and mortal danger in order to expand their (and all of ours) horizons.

By your opinion, which Swede that gave the greatest contribution to mankind? Nobel?Strindberg? Stenmark? :)))

Of the three Alfred Nobel would be my candidate. Another great figure was Dag Hammarskiöld, who was Secretary General of the UN until his death in plane crash in 1960. Sven Hedin who was a great explorer around the time of Alfred Nobel... But Sweden is a bit too insignificant to have produced anyone of eternal greatness.

Future. If we were suddenly approached by extra-terrestrials, what do you think would have happened?

They would shake their heads and stay away from us morons for at least another evolutionary jump.

Future again - when will the term "future pop" eventually become "just pop"?

It already happened. If you ask me there never was any "future" in future pop. Just pop. A new way of doing it, sure. But futuristic? Hardly.     (continues)
