SV – We have a vision about where we are going, and this our own thing, so we must work well together and try and block out external influences, good and bad so we can concentrate on doing our music, and in our view create the best music that we can!We played some new songs here tonight, they seemed to go down well.
We have already started recording tracks for our new album, and so far the reaction from Dependent and those people we know has been very good. We know what it will be like..

J – So you have a vision… So where would you like Pride and Fall to be in 5 years time?

S – Hopefully we will be one of the leading EBM/Industrial bands. No, we WILL be one of the leading EBM/Industrial bands.
P – We will be known for being a GREAT band live. We all love to play live. We are all three of us previously in live-rock type bands, so we are in our element when we play live. We are all rock musicians, so for us it is very new for us to be playing electronics, though I have some experience with synths though…
SV – We’re rock musicians, we don’t like to be holed up in a studio somewhere - we like to be on stage! But of course we also want to develop our sound. So we have to keep on learning.

J – So, you were telling me earlier that the new album is going to be heavier, right?

S – Yes, more gloomy, harder. We’re going to be Pride and Fall, but a lot harder.
J – Like ‘Omniscient’ off you first album?
P – Yes. Actually, when we recorded ‘Omnisicient’ we thought this is harder, this is what we want to do more of.. It kicks arse! The new song we do is called ‘Elements of Silence’ and it follows in the vein of ‘Omniscient’, we hope to do more soon.

J – OK now, this is a personal question, well, actually it probably comes from me and Stefan – why did you do that sudden ending on the Omnisicient remix you did for the Septic IV compilation?? [For those of you who haven’t heard it, the song is in full flow and stops abruptly making it impossible to mix out of or use as a DJ]

P – Well we just wanted to do something different..
J – But it ends on the like 3rd beat of something??
SV – No, no..
S – Well look, when you think about it right.. Everyone is now talking about it.
J – Aaaahhh.. Good answer.
P – If this track had a video, it would have a TV screen where it likes suddenly goes off, and closes down..

J – Yeah, I can see that..That makes sense…
Now, I’m gonna ask the difficult question now, you know what’s coming.. so here it goes:
You’ve been often unfavourably been compared to VNV. You were signed by Dependent not long after VNV, you sound quite like VNV, even your band initials (P&F) are claimed to be a reference to VNV’s first album..
[Praise the Fallen]. What do you say to people who say that you are just a VNV copy band?

SV – Two points. Firstly we NEVER intended to sound like VNV Nation, it was not our purpose at ANY time during our recording of the first album.
S – Well, VNV have a lot of good songs and they are a band that I personally admire.
SV – They were amongst the first bands that really made it BIG in the scene, so of course we know them and it is flattering for us to be compared to them. We never set out to BE them though.
S – Yes, in fact here is the problem for all those people who think we copied VNV nation.. Per, who wrote most of the music for “Nephesh”, had not at that time heard VNV Nation, nor did he own a VNV Nation album!
