HANZEL UND GRETYL – Scheissmessiah
If this was a mock side-project of some
electro-ambient geniuses, then it would have been hilarious. But
it is not. The simplest rock melodies possible combined with one-dimensional
samples and trivial lyrics can hardly be found thrilling. For the
sake of my time, I hope this is all one big joke.
Unlikely.
“Don’t judge book by it’s cover”??
I should’ve read the famous story again about two siblings
left in the forest, it is far more interesting than this CD. And,
yes, you can judge this release by it’s cover. I mean, angelic
siblings with wings melting under the devilish light coming from
some sort of a nucleus with dark menacing wings? Underneath them,
fires of hell and Nazi-font ladden “Scheissmessiah”???
“WOW”!
Lyrics are combination of German and English,
music not even that much diverse. Song after song of simple guitar
riffs, classic drums and occasional samples of cheers.Hm.. OK.
This is all a big joke. Hanzel Und Gretyl are
having fun counting albums sold and concert attendance. Their music
is far from being considered serious - serious enough to be ironic,
sarcastic or humourous. It is, to put it mildly, unconvincing and
not funny. A bad joke, at best.
