MELOTRON - Weltfrieden
Usually, an album by electro-pop band consists of
not more than a couple of hits and the rest are forgettable DM-esque
tunes. “Weltfrieden” by Melotron is something
else – collection of hits, flawlessly produced and masterfully
constructed. From club favourites 'Brüder' and 'Gib Mir Alles'
to 'Reich aus Glas' and 'Wohin ?', Melotron drives melodies
through various tempos and beats with skill. Even mellow 'Wach
Auf' and 'Glücklich' fit perfectly in cruising rhythm of the
album.
Unfortunately, 'Digital' and 'Lilienthals Traum' are tiring (to
put it mildly), but still don’t ruin the overall magnificent
pop journey. Finally, my absolute favourite - 'Wir sind!!!' *not
because Jeyenne (XPQ-21) is a god* is largely responsible
for very high mark given to this edition. And I am not much of a
electro/synth-pop fan (confession: the only reason I got the album
is 'Brüder' with Dennis Ostermann from ISC…
Hm… when I look at it again, their choice of guests is amazing
– Julia Beyer (Technoir)
sings like an angel on 'Folge mir ins Licht' and Kinderchor on 'Wach
auf' complements the vocals superbly!).
If Melotron managed to make me enjoy “Weltfrieden”, then
the real fans of their music will consider it a masterpiece. And if their next
album equals this one, I’ll convert :))
(World) Peace!
