MINDLESS FAITH – Momentum
I Believe!
Mixing every electro genre invented so far, this
“rising force in the underground” trio threatens to
unite all parts of our fragmented scene. Yes, you! You who alienated
yourselves after Ministry’s descent; you who said that after
Nitzer Ebb’s demise there’s no true electro
band; you who come from trance scene, here is a band with a promise!
Although they say:” No Promised Land/ There is no Canaan
found in our ascension/ No answers found in our progression”
I find meaning in their lyrics and belief in their message. Strong
dose of nihilism and defeatism gives ever too familiar taste to
a group of musically diverse songs. I might even say Mindless
Faith used perfected molds of NIN, KMFDM, FLA soundwork
to create “Momentum”. Plus, clearly unique cuts like
‘Canaan’ and biggest hit ‘Singular’ add
to count of fantastic tracks. It takes courage and skill to combine
spicy latino guitar sample and painful lyrics: “Fabricate
identities of individuality/ But we are not/ We are just reflections…”
These two noted characteristics of Mindless
Faith I clearly find the most striking. It is common practice
among painters to mimic established styles until they fully develop
their own, we have it applied here. Putting message and ideas across
through nicely shaped lyrics also distinguishes this album. A birth
of a truly great band has been withessed here.
I believe ‘Momentum’ will carry
Sevanick brothers forward in that direction, towards further
development of their style. I put my faith in progressive industrial
of 21st century whose contours are discerning here. Yes, you! Fans
of gothic music, followers of Robert Smith, Andrew
Eldritch, Peter Murphy and other greats of the past,
awaken! All praises and monuments to Jourgenson, Reznor
and others but it is time. Time for a new movement, new energy and
a new momentum. Shalll Mindless Faith carry the torch? They might.
If they continue along the path of fast electronics, strong lyrics
and ionic drive, they just might. I strongly believe.
