THE RETROSIC – God Of Hell
Yes, another aggro-industrial band. No,
not an ordinary aggression, senseless rage and mindless music. We
are talking The Retrosic: brutal, sharp, strong, ugly,
smart.
Hm… is there a better way to express your
nihilistic view of the world (“Destroy the world to save it”,
“Free the world from the fascism of peace!”) then by
using harsh sound and lyrics? No.
Although I disagree with their views, there’s more than respect
they’ve earned after I read the words. Worthy of a long discussion,
worthy of doubts. This group is serious. And they sound serious.
That separates The Retrosic from most of the pack: hidden
melodic accents, hidden poetic touch in lyrics – apparently,
they are more than ‘in-your-face’ band. Quality, no
mistake about it. A bit of it is missing on slower songs (‘Tale
Of Woe’), proving that beat is still the carrying element
of strength (‘Dragonfire’, ‘Maneater’, ‘Total
War’) and that adding female chants and oriental touch (‘Elysium’
and ‘Passion’, as well as ‘Ground Zero’
from the previous album “Messa Da Requiem”) always gives
hits. Rutger Hauer’s holy lines from “Blade
Runner” should’ve been kept intact – ‘Tears
In Rain’ is a sacrilege. Perhaps many of their lyrics are
as well, but isn’t that a charm of nihilism?
New The Retrosic gives us strong melodies,
powerful lyrics and uncompromising philosophy. What more could you
ask for?
