SEPTIC IV compilation

The Septic series is the one that everyone waits for to see who’s new, who’s hot and who are the next generation of EBM/Industrial bands.
I’ve talked about Stefan Herwig before, the Dependent Records boss and an incredible spotter of raw talent. He nurtures raw substance and makes it special, and this the fourth outing for the Septic compilation is no exception. I like to think that I’m up to date with bands new or otherwise, but once again Stefan has come up trumps with some outstanding new findings, let me tell you about them…

01. BLAME – Space Hulk: Evolution
Blame is the new manifestation of the incredibly talented Boris Posavec et al, formerly known as Endymion.. I stumbled upon them on a Tonedeaf Records sampler and was simply blown away by their haunting track ‘Sightless’. If you can hunt it down, get it - it is quite simply out of this world!
Anyway, Stefan obviously heard of Endymion too, and the result is that the opener for Septic IV is a stormer!
An instrumental powerhouse song, think VNV Electronaut but with loads more bollocks, and you’re somewhere near the power and drive of 'Space Hulk'. Pretty near to perfection, nothing can prepare you for the atomic sized power of the bass line.. Quite simply stunning. Keep your eyes out for Blame, they're unsigned, but not for long..

02. MINDLESS FAITH – Momentum (remix)
Hailing from the USA, Mindless Faith are a new one on me, another undoubted raw talent. On any other sampler this track would be the stand out tune, but with so much talent on the Septic IV CD it doesn’t get the kudos it deserves.
Again the pounding bassline is what you remember. This is good 3am in the morning music, dancefloor heaving and arms flailing in the air, a great debut in Europe for the very talented band. Keep an eye on them, rumour has it that they might be in the Dependent stables soon… Mindless Faith are American Industrial music for the 21st Century, showing that the flame still burns, and burns with passion!

03. FEKTION FEKLER – Take It All
Hands up if you remember Mentallo and The Fixer… Yes, you, the oldie at the back, you remember them don’t you?.. I adored Metallo and The Fixer, Angelic Industrial music from the Zoth Ommog label early 90’s. Proper old skool, I was such a big fan, and mourned their demise.. Well, never fear, because Fektion Fekler are here. Mentallo mimics of the highest order. I love this track because I loved their predecessors, it’s a slow builder with complex rhythms all intertwined building to a beautiful and haunting climax.. It brings back so many memories, all good... All hail the rebirth of Angelic Industrial!

04. STANDEG – Rushing Pictures
Another new band, another great track. Slow, atmospheric and sinister. Well produced and intriguing. Not quite dancefloor, but then not quite home either, this is a dance hybrid. One that grows and infects you. File under interesting newcomer. One to watch.

05. AUTOAGRESSION – Blau
Ruhr area in Germany is a place of Autoagression. The industrial heartland. They came to prominence on the Septic III compilation, with the blinding club track 3.14. As yet unsigned, they are causing a major stir on the German Industrial Club Scene. Real hot property does not fail to deliver with this brutal dance track. The thing with Autoagression is a real sense of composition with haunting interludes to the full body assault of the rest of the song. This is where Industrial and Noise collide, this is the heartland of Autoagression. Stirring stuff.
