UNIT 187 – Capital
Punishment
No compromises – pure
UNIT 187.
Five years passed since their last album,
but nothing has changed. Except instead “ …that
there are no monsters, no real ones. But there are…”(Dead
Dog) we hear “ They are coming to
get you Barbara! They’re coming for you Barbara!”(Infested)
and then the police sirens…
You probably know pretty much everything about Voncouver School
Of Industrial, so I’m just going to update the info by saying that “Capital Punisment” is
a good album. Produced by such names as Chris Peterson and Anthony
Valcic it was bound to be.
Rom DiPrisco remixed (already a) club hit ‘Anger
Management pt.1’ – a fine display of burning face of
UNIT 187. ‘Euphoria’ and ‘Infested’ show
the cold one. 'Angels', 'Second Class Citizens' dwell in between – both
brutal takes enriched by Petersons unique cyberesques. ‘Angels’ is
a bit too brutal, I might say. But we’re used to that, aren’t
we?
As well as to morbid samples on title track. All in the function of debating
the issue of death sentence. Booklet text by Mr. Kenneth Cauthen might
shed some light on UNIT 187’s stand on this topic. You are very welcome
to join the discussion. I would really want to know why do they make the music
they do. They hate us all! :) I might ask them for an interview…
Overall, I like the percussions on this album. 100% Vancouver style. Speaking
of songs, my favourite must be ‘Euphoria’. Whether you prefer cold
instrumentals or aggro style tracks, you will find them both on this album.
Not that the icon of JOY all with rainbow and sunshine fits the nature of “Capital
Punisment”, but it’s value will do just fine.
Welcome back UNIT 187.
