With just one glance you will realize why we chose
to present Mr. Bannikov's artwork. Out of every pattern, every light-filled
dot, energy pours out in every direction. Like Pythagoreans, like
Da Vinci, Andrei is fascinated by the science of art. In his work
you will find both: joy and information. Intrigued by this combination,
interview came to mind. Just a textbook through main principles and
ideas of this versatile artist and person. So, art 101:
You
were figure ice skater, thus you are familiar with combination
of rhythm and movement. How does that reflect on your art?
An important part of my life has been figure skating; rhythm
and timing are integral to success in completing technical jumps, spins
and elements as well as performing in sync to the rhythm of the
music. The experience of working with rhythm in different skating/training
formats from childhood has influenced my art. I strive to create
through my art an alternative perspective of rhythm outside of our
general scope.· Stereographic art is a primitive prototype of a world
that can be created with visual rhythmic patterns, opening the mind
of the viewer to the concept of other dimensions. By formatting a
repeatable pattern of pixels a rhythm is created and another dimension
is opened that the mind can learn to understand and interpret. Skating has also given such a wide range of movement repertoire.
The understanding and choreography of movement deeply influences
my art. Having the opportunity to work with legendary choreographers
such as Guiseppe Arena of La Scala Opera has
deepened my vision of theatricality and expression. I am able to
understand and execute the positioning, feeling and choreography
of my animated 3D characters and also infuse my art with my own dance
movement as well as my beautiful wife Rosanna, also a professional
figure skater that appears as the muse in my paintings.
Most of your creations contain human figure or image (usually
in motion). Why?
The figures appear in my visions of the art. In ancient Egyptian culture passed
down through the mystery schools it is believed symbolism (shapes of humans,
fish, birds, snakes, animals) capture the mathematics and code of an advanced
civilization containing more information than any words can describe. There are
many such an examples, here is one: Friedrich August von
Kekule had
a dream of whirling snakes, he awoke from the dream with the discovery of the
structure of benzene - the organic chemical compound made up of a ring of carbon
atoms.
He reported of his dream "One of the snakes had seized hold of its own tail,
and the form whirled mockingly before my eyes. As if by a flash of lighting I
awoke.... Let us learn to dream, gentlemen." (continues
