We hail David
Vineïs from Paris, France.
Seeing his work in renowned
magazine for digital art, it was a matter of minutes til we bundled
up clumsy
e-mail to contact him.
While waiting for David’s reply, we took time to browse through
his work. Our wish and desire to present his opus to Electromedans
solidified.
Interesting motto greeted us upon entering his
studio. So first question logically was:
Futuristik, organik, mechanik, electronik, onirik?
"I like to mix elements to render atmospheric feelings. The 'K' is important
letter for me. Futuristik, because I like hi-tech layout and
to imagine different
future,
not only designed,
but atmospheric and “mental based life” (Onirik). Mechanik, electronik and organik because
mix of these different sources and elements
is very interesting, it is so pradoxal”.
And that approach is clearly visible in his work. Through
four periods, David Vineïs developed his style gradually. ‘Period
1’ was search for ‘his own feeling’. Followed by darkest compositions,
concept of ‘old atmospheres with human body parts’ is a signature
of second period. Then comes period three : "the most “mental” for
me. Based on emotions and feelings, this period was really creative.'Period 4'
(current period) is the most futuristic. I use new 3D elements with more perspective
elements. Really psychedelic and 'cyber'. I like to create most abstract feeling".
On question about influences and inspirations, David replied: “Cinema,
music, art and ..... women I love <smile>…). In cinema, directors
like David Lynch , Tim Burton , David Cronenberg .
Painting - HR Giger is my master (for me, he is the creator
of “bio-mechanical”).Very important, I need music to create. It takes
really significant place in my inspiration (ambient, electronica: Boards
of Canada, Autechre,
Bjork, Gus Gus, Massive
Attack, FSOL…)
Sometimes I like to try to imagine and create picture about music I listen. I
hate silence when I work. (CONTINUES HERE)
